The invention relates to a method and to a machine for carrying out this method for separating the pouring system from castings which are produced continuously in moulding plants for box casting and boxless casting moulds for founding purposes, in particular of series-produced parts used in vehicle construction and/or similar parts in all other comparable sectors. The pouring system is separated from the castings before the knock-out point, i.e. while still completely surrounded by moulding material in the moulding box or in the boxless mould. Separation is performed by an electronically controlled hydraulic separating machine which, in the case of box casting, consists, in the case of both the top and bottom box, of cylinders arranged as close together as possible in a rectangular system in accordance with the box size of the moulding plant, which assume the task of support or separation in accordance with the specific characteristics of the pouring system together with the castings. Separation of the pouring system, in the case of a boxless casting mould takes place in the same manner, once the latter has been transferred from the vertical casting equipment into the separating machine (Fig. 7) with the aid of the frame (6) and of an industrial robot. <IMAGE>
