A multi-channel transmission system for sound, voice, signalling, acknowledgement and control signals in the form of continuously modulated needle pulses in time-division multiplex, particularly by means of an infrared link. This system contains a channel multiplexer (M) and a channel demultiplexer (DM) in the form of a channel shift register and a modulator (MOD) and demodulators (DEM) for the sound and voice channels and an instruction multiplexer (BMU) and demultiplexer (BDMU), and an instruction modulator (BMO) and an instruction demodulator (BDMO) for instruction channels.
