A method for remote detonation of an explosive projectile, in the case of which the target range is measured before firing and the instantaneous projectile range is measured continuously during the time of flight of the projectile, and a detonation signal is supplied to the projectile when the target range and the project range coincide. Both the range measurement and the emission of the detonation signal are effected via laser. A projectile (Fig. 1) which is suitable for this method has, on the base, a reflection-intensifying component (7) to enable the range measurement, as well as a photo-receiving diode (8) for receiving the detonation signal. A protective plate (9), which can be stripped off by the wind of motion, is arranged externally in front of the reflection-intensified component (7). <IMAGE>
