A device for the production of a yarn has two equidirectionally rotating suction drums which are located closely next to one another and the suction inserts of which are oriented towards the yarn-forming zone in the gusset region between the suction drums. For the fibre feed, guide walls project into the gusset region. To improve the tying of the fibres conveyed to the gusset region into the yarn structure, the gusset gap between the suction drum rotating out of the gusset region and the adjacent guide wall is covered so as to leave free an air slit extending in the longitudinal direction of the drum.
