A musical instrument with an electromechanical and/or electronic tone-generating device is provided with an auxiliary unit (1) which has an electroacoustic transducer (2). The housing of this unit has a sound exit opening which is constructed as a mouthpiece (5). This opening is inserted into the mouth (6) of the person playing the instrument. In the tone-generating device (14, 20) a tone or tones is/are generated which are varied by the appropriate position of the person's buccal cavity and reemitted at (8). <IMAGE>
