The diesel-hydraulic drive provided with a control device according to the invention has an axial piston pump (4) and a plurality of hydraulic motors (8), which have an absorbtion volume which can be switched over. The oscillating shaft of the axial piston pump (4) is provided with electric switches (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d) which, with increasing engine speed of the diesel engine (1) and the associated swinging out of the axial piston pump (4), switch the hydraulic motors (8) over one after the other to the smaller absorbtion volume and, with decreasing engine speed and the associated swinging back of the axial piston pump (4), switch the hydraulic motors (8) back one after the other to the full absorbtion volume again. This achieves the effect that the axial piston pump can operate longer with a relatively better efficiency. <IMAGE>
