Binders for aqueous coating compositions, process for the preparation thereof, and the use thereof

The invention relates to binders for aqueous coating compositions based on polymers of ethylenically unsaturated compounds obtained by polymerisation of A) from 5 to 98 % by weight of ethylenically unsaturated, polymerisable monomers, in the presence of B) from 95 to 2 % by weight of an anionic synthetic resin in the aqueous phase, where the sum of components A) and B) is 100 %. Component A) is preferably an ester of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid. The invention furthermore relates to a process for the preparation of the binders and to the use thereof for anodic electrodeposition coatings.
