The invention is based on a load interrupter switch, especially for cable distribution cabinets, in which no arc is intended to be produced during switching-on or switching-off and which nevertheless dispenses with an automatic interrupter device operating using powerful tension springs, so that it is of relatively small construction. For this purpose, the live metal part (15) of its switching lever (3) is constructed in a U-shape in such a manner that the bevelled lower surface (20) of one limb (18a) is intended to make contact with the input rail (4), and the other limb (18b), which is constructed in like manner, is intended to make contact with the output rail (5). Located in the pivoting zone of the limbs (18a, 18b) are sprung tongues (26) which consist of a plastic which is highly resistant to heat and whose free ends (in the contact position) extend as far as the lower surfaces (20) of the limbs. In the event of switching off by pivoting the switching lever (3), the levers (18a, 18b) also pivot. The free ends of the tongues (26) are then pushed between the surfaces of the rails (4, 5) and the lower surfaces (20) of the limbs and thus prevent an arc being formed. <IMAGE>
