The centering bearing, which is used, in particular, to centre the head of the gearbox input shaft of motor vehicles, consists of an outer bearing bush made of steel in which a lining composed of an elastomer is arranged in a manner firmly connected to the said bush. The inner wall surface of the elastomer lining serves directly as the bearing surface for the shaft. The elastomer lining is composed, in particular, of a fluoroelastomer. The bearing can be provided at the end with one or two sealing lips in the elastomer lining, and these sealing lips can be separated from one another by a relatively deep annular groove.
