A gasifying oil burner, in other words a blue burner, is proposed, in the outer pipe of which a short recirculation pipe is arranged downstream of the injection nozzle and a baffle plate is arranged downstream of the recirculation pipe. The length of the recirculation pipe is shorter than its diameter and the baffle plate is moreover, seen in the flow direction, arranged in the first third to at most half of the outer pipe. The additional claims relate to special embodiments of this relationship. As a result of this design, a short, stable and wide flame is created with a better boiler efficiency and lower combustion noise. Additionally, the risk of the flame being interrupted is greatly reduced.
