The contact wire according to the invention essentially comprises a rubber or plastic profile (1) which forms a slit tube and in the interior of which the contact conductors (3) are located. A current collector arm (12) reaches through the longitudinal slit, provided with a flexible seal. In order to reduce the friction between the flexible seal and the current collector arm, in the region of the seal there are provided slideways, which extend in the longitudinal direction and are lined with sliding material, in particular consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene. These slideways may be designed as strips of film adhesively bonded or vulcanised onto the lips (6, 7) of the seal or as receiving channels which are arranged in the region of the longitudinal slit and the walls of which are lined with wires (15) of sliding material running in wave lines, the current collector arm (12) being provided with sliding skids (16) which engage in the channels and are slidingly supported on these wires (15). <IMAGE>
