Known ball non-return valves have the disadvantage of having a large overall height as a result of the diameter of the ball and the ball stroke. Plate valves are therefore used when there is little space, which valves require careful processing. The proposal has finally been made to use a mushroom-shaped shut-off body in the pressure and suction valves of a hydraulic pump element, which shut-off body is cut from a blank. The object of the invention is to produce a hydraulic valve which is distinguished by the fact that it is easy to produce. According to the invention, this is achieved in that a closed spherical segment is provided for the shut-off body to act as a sealing surface. As, despite the presence of a spherical sealing surface, only a part, and not all, of the diameter of the ball is present in the opening direction, which part depends on the size of the spherical segment, the overall height can be kept very low. It is especially advantageous to produce the shut-off body from a conventional ball-bearing ball, by cutting out the supporting surface for the spring and the shaft to guide the shut-off body. Conventional ball-bearing balls of all sizes can be obtained cheaply and can be machined quickly, easily and in large series using conventional machine tools with simple tools.
