To improve lighting system, which uses high voltage discharge lamp with phase-lag stabilizer, the stabilizer whose secondary voltage is below 220v lights high voltage discharge lamp whose lamp-voltage is over 145v but below 180v. Outstanding effect of power saving can not be obtained below 145v of lamp-voltage. Over 180v dishcarge may be unstabilized and the lamp can be turned out. Figure shows characteristic of lamp-input and power, When high voltage mercury lamp of 400w is lighted by phase-lag stabilizer of 200w. In the figure curve L represents power of lamp, and curve B does input-power of stabilizer.
