In an hydraulic steering device, fed by pump, for industrial trucks, according to the invention the speed of rotation of the pump (6) is controlled by a controller (12) with respect to its power requirement as a function of the steering movement to be carried out. As a result, energy consumption, wear and noise generation are substantially reduced.
