PURPOSE:To obtain a lightweight, small-sized magnetic recording device by using a motor as a driving source for rotating a magnetic recording medium, and moving a magnetic head linearly in radius direction of the magnetic recording medium by the tensile force of a flexible long-sized body together with a holding body. CONSTITUTION:When a motor 2 is driven, a magnetic recording medium 4 rotates and the rotation of the motor 2 is transmitted from a worm gear 17 to a pulley 19 through a warm wheel 18. The pulley 19 is provided with a locking pawl 23, which when coming to the lock hole of a steel belt 22, engages the lock hole, and then the steel belt 22 is wound around the pulley 19 according to the rotation of the pulley 19, thereby linearly moving the steel belt 22 by the current tensile force of the steel belt. As the steel belt 22 moves, a magnetic head 7 on a holding body 8 moves linearly from the external circumference to the internal circumference of the medium 4 to perform reading operation. |
