PURPOSE:To miniaturize an optical system, by performing the optical Fourier transform and the adverse Fourier transform by means of converging light and folding the optical path required for these transforms. CONSTITUTION:A reference image 12 containing a desired target image and an image 12 to be correlated are displayed contiguously to each other on a CRT1. In other words, the image on the CRT1 is recorded on an optical image converting element 4 like a crystal of Bi12,BiO20, etc. via an image forming lens 2 and a dichroic mirror 3. On the other hand, the light given from a coherent light source 5 is converted into a converging beam through a Fourier transform lens 8 and via a collimator lens 6 and a beam splitter 14a. Then the image of the element 4 is read out, and the Fourier transform pattern is stored in an optical image storing element 16 like a liquid crystal panel, etc. via a light detector 7a. Then the light transmitted through the splitter 14a is converted into a converging beam through an adverse Fourier transform lens 10, and the reflected light from the element 16 is received at an image pickup device 11. |
