PURPOSE:To form images by adapting the phenomenon in which the physical development of metallic developing nuclei is suppressed by a diazo dye. CONSTITUTION:An image forming material A provided with an image forming layer 2 consisting of a hydrophilic binder contg. fine metallic developing nuclei and a compd. having a diazo group on backing 1 is subjected to pattern exposure through a transmittable original 3, so that the compd. having the diazo group in exposed parts 2A is decomposed. This is brought into contact with a coupling agent soln. to form a diazo dye in unexposed parts 2C. Further, it is brought into contact with a physical developing soln. to form a black image 2B wherein the metals in the physical developing soln. is deposited and grown by reduction with the metallic developing nuclei as centers is formed in the exposed parts. The non-image parts color as well but the coloring in the visible parts does not affect the transmission of UV rays and therefore this is usable as a mask material. |
