PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium with high reflectivity which facilitates the detection of a tracking error and a focusing error signal by providing a recording layer, which has high reflectivity in a specific wavelength band, on a substrate by the use of coloring matter or pigment with bronze luster. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 90 of glass, etc., is coated with a methanol saturated solution of methylene blue to form a recording layer 120 which has gold luster and 20% reflectivity to 632.8nm wavelength of He-Ne laser light. In another way, the recording layer 120 with bronze luster is formed by using new methylene blue or by vapor-depositing lead phthalocyanine. Writing is carried out by laser light with proper wavelength corresponding to the coloring matter and pigment, thereby obtaining a reflection type information recording medium which requires no metallic reflecting film and has high reflectivity (20-80%) and the improved S/N ratio of a readout signal at low cost. |
