PURPOSE:To improve the safety by providing a conductive member in a suitable part along a running path of an electrode wire while detecting the separating electrode to come into contact with this conductive member by a current detecting means and disconnecting a power supply circuit. CONSTITUTION:A conductive member 43 is provided in the vicinity of an outlet end 40a of a belt-pulley type conveying mechanism 40 so that an electrode wire 30, separating from a running path, easily performs mechanical contact. While the conductive member 43 is maintained to an electrically floating isolated condition from the earth potential, on the other hand the conductive member 43 is connected to the earth potential through a fuse 45 by using a conductive wire 44. Further the fuse 45, being paired with an electric contact 46, forms a current detecting means 47, and a device, when it separates the electrode wire 30 coming into contact with the conductive member 43 and melting the fuse 45 to be cut, places the electric contact 46 in an opened condition, disconnecting supply of power from a DC power supply 60 in a DC power supply circuit 58 for machining.
