PURPOSE:To perform a continuous measurement of radiation concentration by an on-line and to prevent the production of a secondary waste, by a method wherein charged particle rays are converted into X-ryas, which are easy to transmit underwater by virtue of a minute particle target material, to measure radiation density. CONSTITUTION:A minute sized target material 16, being housed in a housing tray 15 through a liquid feed tube 14 and having a surface covered with Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Zr, is immersed in liquid to be measured which is freed from foreign matters, and the liquid to be measured is collected through an overflow tube 18 to an original line. Resulting from said immersion, charged particle rays such as sodium in the liquid to be measured are applied to the target 16, X-rays, which are easy to transit underwater, are generated from the target 16 to measure them by means of a radiation detector 19. This eliminates the need for a liquid scintillator, causes continuous measuring of radiation density by an on-line, and prevents the production of a secondary waste such as liquid scintillator. |
