PURPOSE:To enable to electrically discharge a nonlinear arrester by employing the arrester in series with a high voltage generator and dischaging the arrester when the voltage generated from a current transformer coil is applied to the generator, thereby maintaining the high voltage at the prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The superposed voltage of the discharging voltage of a nonlinear arrester (LA) 37 connected in series with a high voltage generator 38 and the counterelectromotive force of a current transformer coil 5 generated via the initial charging voltage of an initial exciting bias capacitor 1 is instantaneously applied to the LA37 and the generator 38. The generator 38 operates its function from the time when the applied voltage exceeds the discharging voltage. Since the LA37 has a constant voltage characteristics when the LA37 discharges at this time, it is not necessary to limit the current via the series resistor, the bias current of the capacitor 1 may be low value, and the capcity of the condenser may be small, thereby stabilizing the discharging voltage characteristic. |
