PURPOSE:To produce a waveguide lens without depending upon a high-order polishing technique, by utilizing the difference of etching speed based on the difference of glass composite to provide a ruggedness on a plate-shaped glass plate. CONSTITUTION:A glass material 1 where a glass bar 2 having a graded dopant concentration distribution in the direction of the radius is buried is sliced in the direction intersecting the axial direction of the glass bar 2 to obtain a plate material 3 which has a graded dopant concentration distribution retaining part 4 internally. The upper face of the plate material 3 is etched with an etching liquid, and a part including the dopant more is etched in a higher speed to form a recess curved surface 5. A glass film 6 which should be an optical waveguide layer is accumulated on the surface of the plate material 3 including the recess curved surface, thus obtaining a waveguide lens. |
