PURPOSE:To make automatic inspection of high reliability possible by inspecting a film roll by a means of inspecting the film layers thereof tomographically. CONSTITUTION:A gear 5 is fitted to the winding core of a stock film roll 1, and is held by holding members 3a, 3b. An inspecting shaft 7a of a scanner 7 is inserted into the through-hole 2a of a winding core 2 and is fixed to supporting means 7e, 7e'. A closing plate 9 is fitted in the through-hole 2a and water 10 is injected. A tomographic inspecting means is started and while the roll 1 is rotated, an ultrasonic osicllator 8a is moved from the one to the other end of the roll 1 by the scanner 7, whereby the roll is scanned spirally. The echo signal by the defects of the ultrasonic pulse beams from the oscillator 8a is received by the oscillator 8a, is processed and stored by an image processor and is displayed on a suitable display part. |
