PURPOSE:To provide a liquid developer superior in etching resistance for forming a printing plate high in resolution, by adding a colorant, a charge controller, and a polymer, such as polyethylene into an electrically insulating liquid. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic latent image is formed by the electrophotographic imagewise exposure system, and developed with an electrophotographic liquid developer to form a toner image, and the nonimage part of a photoconductive layer is dissolved off to prepare a printing plate from a photoconductive raw printing plate provided on a support. Said liquid developer contains (A) a colorant, (B) a charge controller, and (C) at least one of polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene copolymer, and propylene copolymer in the insulating liquid. This process permits the image part to exhibit strong resistance to an etching solvent in the etching step and not to dissolve in this, and said liquid developer to form a printing plate high in resolution and good in reproducibility. |
