In order to transport fuel elements of nuclear reactors, use is made of grabs which are centred, with the aid of at least two guide pins (17) arranged in parallel, on the fuel elements to be transported, so that the latter can be gripped by means of at least two grab claws (15) which can be moved transverse to the longitudinal direction of the guide pins by means of a tie rod (60). In order to adapt such grabs to different fuel element cross-sections, it is provided that the guide pins (17) are arranged adjustably in a plane lying transverse to the longitudinal direction and are coupled to a further tie rod (20) which extends between the guide pins (17), that the further tie rod (20) is connected with the free end of two single-arm levers (29) to a knuckle joint (39), and in that the grab claws (15) are provided on the free end. The invention comes into consideration in particular for waste management devices in which fuel elements from different nuclear reactors have to be transported. <IMAGE>
