PURPOSE:To discriminate the type of a copying material by detecting the position or presence of a recording sheet, and then detecting the type of the recording sheet by utilizing the light transmission characteristics of the recording sheet. CONSTITUTION:An image recording device is equipped with the 1st detecting means which detects the position or presence of a copying material without reference to the light transmittance of the copying material and the 2nd detecting means which detects the type of the copying material by utilizing the light transmittance or nontransmittance of the copying material. The position or presence of the copying material 12 is confirmed firstly by a position detected. Then, a photodetector 19 discriminates whether the material is a transparent sheet or not. Thus, the type of the copying material is discriminated easily. |
