The axial-piston appliance employs cross head shoes (4, 31, 32) which run on a swash plate (3) and are prevented in a positively locking manner by means of a pull-back plate (6) and holding-down devices (7, 33) from lifting off the swash plate (3) or from tilting. A cylinder body (2) is braced against a spherical surface (20) of a control plate (19), and has pistons (8, 9, 11, 12) running therein. Oil ducts (16, 17, 18) in the cylinder body (2) meet oil conduits (24, 25, 26) in the control body (19) on a pitch circle which is smaller than that on which the pistons (8, 9, 11, 12) are situated. The construction of the appliance makes it possible to use higher rotational speeds and thus a greater power density than had been possible hitherto. <IMAGE>
