PURPOSE:To remove scales generated on the surface of a strip after hot rolling exactly and with simple structure by applying mechanical treatment to a hot rolled strip after giving high tension and plastic bending. CONSTITUTION:Large tension is given to a hot rolled strip 11 by rolls 41-44, 45-48 between bridle mechanismsI, II. Under this high tension, plastic bending is given by small diameter bending rolls 6 of a tension levelling mechanism III to cause plastic elongation. The strip 11 in which cracks are formed in the scale part due to tensile distortion by plastic elongation is descaled by extruding brush rolls 8 opposed to small diameter bending rolls 9 in a descaling mechanism IV. Or, descaling is performed by jetting highly pressurized water containing abrasive. Sufficient descaling effect can be obtained by this method. |
