The flexible external pipe-centring device, which can be extended as desired, serves to centre pipe-to-pipe pipe-to-tank pipe-to-bend pipe-to-flange pipe-to-fitting pipe-to-shaped part weld joints which frequently occur in practice and have to be centred for the welding technique to standard with slight tolerances. The flexible external pipe-centring device, consisting of centring supports with in each case two centring screws, integrated in a type of roller chain, is clamped from outside in an annular manner around the weld joint to be centred. The requisite fastening of the chain is effected by means of a tension or eccentric lock. To fasten the chain, the tension or eccentric lock can be attached to each requisite point of the entire chain length. Relatively low weight facilitates the manipulation and simplifies the centring tasks frequently occurring.
