PURPOSE:To have sure return of the steering wheel to the selected position by incorporating a selected position memory device in a tilting type mechanism and by operating the steering wheel upon selection of position by the driver using the operational lever. CONSTITUTION:In a disc 31 is installed a memory deice in which holes 41, 40, 42 are in correspondence with the circumferential grooves 44, 43, 45, mating with positions H, N, L of the steering wheel. Moving the operational lever 12 in the direction of Arrow A will cause slipout of a pin 39 from a coupling hole 40 to permit the upper and lower brackets 10, 11 to get rid of their function to restrain rotation. The bracket 10 is rotated by a spring 25 fixed to the brackets 10, 11, and after the bracket 10 stopped at the position where a pin 23 comes in contact with the edge of hole 24, the steering wheel 1 is brought to the jump position H. If, thereafter, the steering wheel 1 is so operated as to tilt toward the driver, the bracket 10 tilts together with the steering wheel 1 to allow the pin 39 to be fitted in the initial hole 40 by a spring 30. This procedure shall be brought through in the same manner also for other positions H, L. |
