PURPOSE:To properly sort sheets fed from a picture forming section by sending sheet storage capacities to the picture forming section from multistage collators connected to the picture forming section. CONSTITUTION:When sorters 4A-4C are turned on and called by a succeeding stage sorter readout program from a ROM, a bin number signal of the sorter 4C is stored in a counter CNT1 in a RAM and the bin number signal of the sorter 4B is also stored in a counter CNT2, then an addition of both stored values is stored in a register CNT3. Next, the number of bins stored in the counter CNT3 is fed into the preceeding sorter 4A by means of a bin number output program, and the added number of bins from the sorter 4B is further added to the number of bins of the sorter 4A. The sum is then sent to a copying machine main body 1, which can detect the total number of bins, thereby, the handling of sorters can be simplified. |
