PURPOSE:To recover a seek error without setting a head back to the start point, by controlling the shift of the head via two sets of registers and inhibiting the loading of the contents of the register to the other register when the seek error is produced. CONSTITUTION:The differential value between a target address N, etc. stored in the 1st register 1 and the contents of the 2nd register 2 is set to a counter 3 as the initial value. The counter 3 counts down to control the shift of a magnetic head 6. When the count value of the counter 3 reaches 0, the contents N of the register 1 is loaded to the 2nd register 2 which stores the position of the head by the loading signal supplied via an NAND gate 9. When a seek error arises with addition of the track stop number M, etc., a control part 10 sets again the target value N-M to the register 1 and at the same time applies the load inhibition signal to the gate 9. Accordingly the contents of the register is kept at N when the head 6 moves again and the track stop number is set at N. Thus the seek error can be quickly recovered setting the head back to the original position. |
