PURPOSE:To increase the orientation properties of the (c) axis direction for a hexagonal crystal of a Co-Cr thin film and to obtain a vertical magnetic recording medium having excellent characteristics, by forming the Co-Cr thin film on a metallic substrate via an amorphous thin film such as an SiO2 film, an Al2O3 film, etc. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous thin film of SiO2, Al2O3, etc. is formed on a metallic substrate (such as an aluminum plate, a brass plate, etc.) by a sputtering process, etc. Furthermore, a thin film of a Co-Cr alloy is formed on said amorphous thin film by a sputtering process, etc. Thus a vertical magnetic recroding medium is obtained. Then a magnetic thin film of ''Permalloy '', etc. having high permeability is provided between the metallic substrate and the amorphous thin film in order to reduce the recording current which is flowed to a magnetic head. |
