A console unit for patients undergoing intensive care incorporates supply channels (19, 21, 30) with sockets for power supplies (22) connection points for other voltages e.g. communications (23) and signal (24), terminals for monitoring equipment and outlets for medical cases (20). The channels (19, 21, 30) are supported between hollow vertical posts (10, 11) of adjustable height and tied by cross members (18a) for suspension from the ceiling by fixtures (13). Two pairs of vertical support bars (18) are fixed to the posts with variable stand-off by bearers (28, 29) and carry cantilever tables of adjustable height. USE/ADVANTAGE - Is double sided and can be placed between pairs of beds stired head to head to provide independent care for each bed. Is not fixed to wall and permits freedom of movement around bed. Provides multiplicity of safe locations for appts. Is psychologically better for patient than overhead alternatives.
