<p>VISION THERAPEUTIC APPARATUS Vision therapeutic apparatus comprising spaced apart displays for showing sequences of images to a viewer-patient. The apparatus provides the capability to vary the rate of image display and keeps score of the occurrence of the special events and the detections or misses thereof by the viewer. In one embodiment, two displays (10, 12) are disposed, generally, in line, one near to and the other distant from the viewer. Each display shows, on a random basis, a series of different images which alternate, image to image, with the series of images shown by the other display. The viewer alternately observes the near and distant displays, thereby performing an optical exercise, and signals to the apparatus when a special visual event occurs, e.g., the successive showing of the same image by the two displays. In another embodiment, two displays (20, 22) are spaced in side by side relation and are simultaneously observable by the viewer. The displays show images at the same time, and a special visual event occurs when the two side by side images, when converged by the eyes of the viewer (this being the optical exercise), form a composite, single image recognizable by the viewer. The spacing of the side by side displays is variable.</p> |
