PURPOSE:To especially measure silver in a photography fixing solution simply in good accuracy with a small-sized apparatus, by allowing to coexist a compound capable of forming a water insoluble product by reacting to silver or a silver compound with silver or the silver compound and measuring the turbidity of suspension produced by electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:A compound producing a water insoluble product by reacting to silver or a silver compound is allowed to coexist with silver or the silver compound at the same time and is taken in a sample vessel 5. An electric current from 100V alternating electric current source is converted into a dirrect current by a slidac 1 and a rectifier 2 and the turbidity produced by electrolyzing at about 10V for about five minutes by using a platinum anode 3 and a stainless steel cathode 4, is measured by 450nm wavelength light stirring by a magnetic stirrer 6 and then, the accurate concentration of silver is measured by using a calibration curve preliminarily prepared by using the silver compound having already known concentration. The electrolytic reaction at the time of measurement is accelerated by adding 0.5-2% strong electrolyte such as NaCl, KCl, NaNO3, at the time of electrolysis. |
