1507578 Wet presses VALMET OY 7 June 1976 [12 June 1975] 23407/76 Heading D2A In a tissue-paper-making machine a wetpress section comprises an upper suction roll 16 and a lower roll 14 with a recessed surface 15, the paper web W travelling through the nip N 1 between two felts 13, 20. The lower roll may have a drilled or grooved surface or be coated with plastics strip or wire. After leaving the rolls 14, 16 the web W travels with the felt 13 over a roll 24 to a Yankee cylinder 26. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the upper roll combines the functions of rolls 16 and 24 defining with the Yankee cylinder 26 a second nip N 2 . The lower roll 14 is mounted in a frame 22 which can be turned about a pivot 21 (e.g. by an hydraulic ram 23) for adjustment. |
