PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of a crossflow heat exchanger, by manufacturing two types of corrugated heat exchanger plates, one having air shield pieces extending perpendicularly to the ridgelines of corrugation and the other having air shield pieces extending in parallel to the ridgelines of corrugation, and superposing these two types of corrugated heat exchanger plates on each other in the manner that the corrugations of these two types of heat exchanger plates extend in the same direction. CONSTITUTION:A first type heat exchanger plate 9 is fabricated by forming a corrugated plate by drawing corrugation 10 on a plate with flat portions 9a being left at the marginal portions of the same, and forming L-shaped air shield pieces 11 functioning also as support legs in a direction perpendicular to the ridgelines 10a of corrugation 10. In the same way, a second type heat exchanger plate 12 is fabricated by forming air shield plates 14 in a direction parallel to the ridgelines 10a of corrugation 10. Then, the first and the second type heat exchanger plates 9, 12 are superposed on each other in the manner that their ridgelines 10a, 13a extend in the same direction. With such an arrangement, open-air inlet ports 17 and exhaust-gas inlet ports 16 are formed alternately at every other stage to extend perpendicularly to each other, and heat is exchanged between the open air and exhaust gas through the corrugated heat exchanging sections. Thus, the heat exchanging efficiency can be raised appreciably. |
