PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption in means for heating suction air by means of a ceramic heater by connecting a double pipe to a suction pipe which extends from a fitting face for a carburetor towards heating means and by circulating exhaust gas or so through the clearance of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:With an engine cool, a temperature of cooling water being -7 deg.C, for example, an opening-and-closing valve 31 is kept closed. When the engine is started under said conditions, a suction air heating means 10 begins to electrify a ceramic heater 13 and a heating pannel 11 is thereby heated at a quick rate so that fuel which is led by a passage 24 of a double pipe 20 connected to a suction pipe is enhancively atomized after collision against the pannel. When the temperature of cooling water is increased up to 40 deg.C or so, a valve 31 is opened to allow a negative pressure to be transmitted to an EGR control valve 28, which is opened to feed the exhaust gas through a clearance 23 of the double pipe 20 into the original area of a suction passage 4. The double pipe 20 is heated to enhance atomization in company with the means 10. When the temperature of cooling water is further increased, electrification of the heater 13 is interrupted, however, atomization proceeds because of circulation of exhaust gas. |
