<p>PURPOSE:To make a light scattering state due to a thermooptical effect uniform over the whole surface of a liq. crystal cell by forming a vapor-deposited film of zirconium oxide or yttrium oxide as an orienting film on the front substrate. CONSTITUTION:A nematic-cholesteric mixed liq. crystal is held between 2 substrates to fabricate a negative and phase transition type liq. crystal display device utilizing a light scattering state due to a thermooptical effect. As an orienting film 14 on the upper substrate a vapor-deposited film of zirconium oxide or yttrium oxide is formed. The film 14 orients vertically the mixed liq. crystal and forms a uniform and fine light scattering state.</p> |
