NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R is lower alkyl except ethyl, lower alkoxyl, hydroxyl, acetoxyl, etc.). EXAMPLE:n-Butylphenyl 2-(p-isobutylphenyl)propionate. USE:An analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent with little side effects having improved anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects on application to the affected part as a drug for internal use or as an external anti-inflammatory agent, particularly a cream, ointment or gel agent, with almost no side effects and improved safety. PROCESS:2-(p-Isobutylphenyl)propionic acid of formula II or a reactive derivative thereof, e.g. an acid halide or anhydride, is reacted with an alcohol of the formula ROH to give the compound of formulaI. The reaction is carried out in an inert solvent or under solventless conditions in the presence or absence of sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid. |
