PURPOSE:To prevent knocking of an engine, by changing the octane number of fuel when the knocking of the internal combustion engine is detected. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a liquid injection device 21, comprising a liquid pump 24, for forcibly feeding liquid in a liquid tank 22, stored with high octane number liquid of alcohol or liquid of water capable of decreasig the octane number required for an engine, liquid filter 26, and a liquid injection valve 30, arranged to a surge tank 28 in an intake passage, and an electronic control device 32, for increasing the octane number of gasoline or decreasing the required octane number of the engine by opening the liquid injection valve 30 for a prescribed time at detection of knocking in accordance with a level of knocking in a main unit 10 of the engine detected from a knocking sensor 20. In this way, the knocking of the engine can be prevented. |
