PURPOSE:To facilitate work and to allow the mounting of lead wires at a low cost as well as to reduce the cost of the sensor element by joining the lead wires consisting of platinum wires to a porous platinum electrode layer at the end edge of a cap. CONSTITUTION:The lead wires 5 consisting of the platinum wires are joined by bonding to the porous platinum electrode layer 3 on the end edge of the cap 4 consisting of crystallized glass. The secure joining is thus attained with the simple single stage. The joint strength is sufficient and a solid electrolyte 1 does not crack if the thickness of the porous platinum electrode layer 3 in particular is specified to 15 to 30mum and the diameter of the lead wires 7 consisting of the platinum wires is specified to 0.05 to 0.5mmphi. Since the lead wires 5 are connected on the cap 4 consisting of the crystallized glass having no direct relation with the solid electrolyte 1, the possibility of exerting thermal influence on the solid electrolyte 1 is eliminated. |
