PURPOSE:To get rid of a differnce between the compressing and expanding extents of each channel, by generating one common control signal from an input signal, as a control signal of the level compressing and expanding circuits of a stereo signal, and compressing and expanding a levfel of each channel independently. CONSTITUTION:Right and left stereo signals are added by an adder 13, a control signal is detected by a level compressing control signal detecting circuit 14, and by this signal, left and right level compressing gain controlling circuits 1, 4 are gain-controlled and level-compressed simultaneously, and after that, recording is executed onto a magnetic tape through left and reght recording amplifying circuits 3, 6. Subsequently, a signal reproduced by a reproducing head is amplified by left and right reproducing amplifying circuits 7, 10, and after that, is added by an adding circuit 15, detects a control signal by a level expanding control signal detecting circuit 16, gain-controls left and right level expanding gain controlling circuits 8, 11 simultaneously, and is restored and expanded. |
