The pan has a hollow handle (3) containing an electric motor (7) which has a fan (8) mounted on its shaft. The fan (8) directs a stream of air down the hollow handle into the base (1) of the pan. Charcoal is placed on a perforated bed (10) fitted inside the pan so that an air space is left between the bed and the pan base. The shaft of the pan bears a base section (1) which is pivotable. The base (1) pivots about the lower end (3) of the shaft by a hinge attached about its periphery.
