The dredger(10) has a two-piece boon(14) which operates under water,& a universal joint between the two sections of boom. A cutting tool(32) is mounted on the end of the outer section of boom(14B). The arrangement enables the dredger to work on areas of sea bed beneath moored shipping(41). The aft extremity of the boom can pivot about a horizontal axis on the dredging vessel(10) & the boom is manipulated by lifting gear(29). The boom can adopt alternate inclined submerged operational positions, & can be raised into a non operational position. The inner(14A) & outer(14B) sections of the boom are connected by a platform(16) for horizontal & vertical articulation.
