<p>A soap bar which contains, as antimicrobial compound, a halogenated o-hydroxydiphenyl ether, as well as a colorless silicate which is virtually insoluble in water and wich diminishes the discoloration of the soap caused by the antimicrobial compound on exposure to sunlight. There is also disclosed a method of improving the aspect of bars of soap which contain such antimicrobial compounds by adding to the soap base a colorless silicate which is virtually insoluble in water, optionally in conjunction with a fatty acid containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms and/or a N-acylsarcosine.</p> |
