The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of mould cores, according to which fresh sand is used as moulding sand in a press mould, and the fresh sand, with the use of a hydraulic press 1, undergoes pre-compression in the press mould followed by final compression. In this way it is possible to produce even complex mould cores efficiently and free from defects. The invention also relates to a press with pressing tool with mould depressions insertable into the press mould, and a press table. According to the invention the press comprises a hydraulic press 1, the pressing tool 8 of which with its mould depressions 9 has ducts 11 leading to the mould depressions 9 and alternately connectable to a negative or positive pressure. <IMAGE>
