The servo controlled piston and cylinder with a spindle (2) carrying a piston which divides the cylinder into two chambers (4), has a labyrinth seal (10) at each end, completing the chambers. Each seal has a larger diameter outer end (12) fitting against a shoulder inside the end of the cylinder, nd a smaller diameter part (11) fitting inside a chamber. Between these two parts is a ring shaped recess (13) permanently connected to the pump (P). Adjacent to this is a leakage oil chamber (19) with a return connection to the tank (T). The outer end of this chamber is formed by an internally grooved region (12) forming part of the labyrinth sealing system with a set of cross channels offset from each other and interconnecting the annular channels.PS.
