The box comprises a tray having a bottom (1) and side walls (2,4) and a second bottom (3) at a higher level part (5) of which is provided with openings (6) for the passage of liquid and small enough to prevent passage of litter material (8) on the upper bottom (3). This bottom (3) slopes downwards from the sides (4) to a central portion (5) in which the openings are provided, whilst the remaining portion (7), which takes up the greatest part of the bottom (3) area, is not perforated. A filter element (11) may be provided below the portion (5) and could be impregnated to prevent decomposition of the liquid waste and/or provided with an air freshener.
